When you find yourself in a situation or circumstance that you do not prefer or even strongly dislike, ask yourself - and this may not happen in the moment of the experience, it may happen later upon reflection - ask yourself: What is the essence of what it is that you dislike? How did it make you feel?

What is the essence of what you desire instead? 

As an example, let’s say you feel angry or irritated about something. When you have a moment to reflect upon it, follow the anger. What is the anger telling you? Have your boundaries been crossed? Is there something within you that the anger is protecting? 

When you find the essence of the discord within, you then also know what it is that you desire instead. It could be more self-confidence, it could be clearer boundaries, it could be easeful communication, to name but a few.

Even if you don’t find the answer in the moment, it will become clear to you when you are ready to receive it.

Then you can tune into the essence of what it is you desire and thus invite and allow more of that into your experience. 

In this way, what was experienced as a negative or unwanted experience can now be viewed as a clarifying experience; a learning about yourself and a learning about what it is that you desire to experience more of. 

You will get more of the desired experience by moving your attention away from the discord and bringing your attention more to the essence of the what it is you desire.
